Trends/ Baroque 'n' Roll

Aloha, everyone. So for Autumn/Winter 2012 there are a whole host of incredible trends to tempt you. However, for me, one of the greatest trends is maximalism, often referred to as Baroque - meaning 'rough pearl'. This trend incorporates nearly excessive amounts of embellishments, ornamentation and prints inspired by the Baroque period of the 1600's in Rome.

The designers that were inspired by Baroque-esque most include Dolce & Gabbana and Balmain. Featuring FabergĂ© egg and vivid floral prints, lashings of gold embellishments, pearls, an array of fabrics in rich tones of ox blood red, gold, crushed deep black velvet, and cream.

I don't know about you but I certainly can't afford fresh-from-the-catwalk clothes, but thanks to the trickle-down fashion theory us norms can also get a taste of Baroque fashion without the sky high prices.
