Going Global

Lucy in Disguise, the boutique of the Allen sisters, is going global. Lilly and Sarah opened their online store today selling Lucy In Disguises' own collection! This is their collection they designed themselves, not retro pieces they stock at Lucy in Disguise by other designers.

The collection is inspired by the vintage finds the Covent Garden store sells. Covering a range of styles and eras, the pieces being reasonably priced (reasonable by designer standards), could fit right in with any girls wardrobe.

Jean Paul Gautier a Paris

I was just browsing Vogue online and came across a swag menswear collection from fashion week in Paris, Spring Summer 2012. It just so happened to be Jean Paul Gautier.

The Collection is a mashup of casual and dressed up clothes. Think board shorts teamed with blazers, loud prints from head-to-toe, denim jackets thrown over pin stripe vest and trouser combo's. This post covers the trend Jean Paul is promoting, the fine details and the different influences on the structure of garments.

Check it out!

Collaborations/ Versace x H&M

This is a very popular topic I'm sure. Italian fashion house, Versace, will be the latest label to collaborate with the Swedish highstreet brand. I can visualise the carnage at the stores already, usually all the best things clear out within minutes but withVersace you know that every piece with be covertable.

The sneak-peek of the collection has been released's everything I could have dreamed of and more!! It's funny this collaboration came into existance since in 2008, according to Donatella, high street collaborations just arent Versace. "I respect everyone who does it. But the reason I didn't do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand."

But here we are, making history and breaking the rules. Isnt that what fashions for anyways?
Donatella and her design team are planning to create womanswear, menswear and homewear collections for H&M that will be released on the 17th of November, followed by a pre-spring collection which I predict will be even more popular than the last collaboration with Lanvin.

Studs, leather, shocking prints, sharp tailoring and everything that defines the iconic Versace.

Excuse The Mess!!

I'm sorry for the unattractiveness of the site right now guys! I'm in the middle of moving to a domain name, and yes, we are now The Fashion Edition!! Please do excuse the mess, we will be beautified very soon. :)

Kanye's 'kerchiefs

Hahaha. What a terrible pun!

We all know Kanye West loves his fashion, but recently he's gone as far as allowing the rest of us to flaunt it for him. Kanye commisioned the artist George Condo, who produces some pretty cubist pieces like this...

do some art for him. These paintings then turned into scarves which I'm sure will become increasingly popular as they gain more publicity.

I Give You...Chelsea Arnold!

Hello everyone! Long time no see, eh? This post will hopefully be one of many. Chelsea Arnold is the lovely lady behind "Let's put our hearts together," a new fashion blog. Recently, Chelsea entered the Next Model Competition, where she's got a great position. I wanted to know more about the girl in the photo, as I'm sure you do to, so we had a little interview. I am happy to have the pleasure of introducing, Chelsea.

The Interview

R: Hi Chelsea, I love your blog “Let’s put our hearts together” and I really find you outfit posts inspirational. Why did you decide to start a blog? What is your blog focused around?
C: I’m so glad to hear that you like my blog; it’s so lovely to know that people are reading and finding my blog interesting. Initially I made a blogspot account purely to follow other fashion blogs. I started off with a Lookbook account and then decided that it would be nice to have more space to add some detailed images and explanations or descriptions about my outfit. And I’ve just continued with it :) My blog is mainly focused on things that inspire me and what I’ve been wearing/wanting recently.

La Moda Inspire means "Fashion Inspire" which kind of gives the impression that my blogs all about how fashion  inspires people. Its not, its a whole lot more!

So this leads me to explain that La Moda Inspire will be no more, but instead named "The Fashion Edition", perhaps on a domain! If I dont get a domain then the URL will remain the same, but the blog title has changed. On google or any search engines please search "The Fashion Edition" instead, however if you can't find the blog, just search "La Moda Inspire" as you normally would. It will still take you here! Then if I've bought the domain name I will give you guys a heads up that La Moda Inspire will be moved.

In the end once all of this has gone through, the blog address might be, on google and other search engines I will appear under queries for The Fashion Edition.

I hope I haven't got you all confused!! This move won't be happening for a long time yet, when I do I hope I don't lose you!

Until then the posts will keep coming :)

Lots of Love,

On Your Day Off

I've been ill recently and as I was off school and had some free time I got to thinking, should I put any energy into what I wear? I mean, when you've got no place to go and your just chilling at home should you put effort into what you wear? You don't really have anyone to impress but yourself.

On Monday I was feeling like rubbish, so depressed. The evidence of my illness was the fact that I wore head-to-toe black. Wearing a Wolfmother Woman tee is even more incriminating. (Though I do love them!) Black leggings, gross, and a snugly knitted Topshop cardigan. Not the most stylish or inspirational image.

What do you wear on you days off?

Are you as dolled up as this lot when your at home on the sofa?

Model Database:

I'm so jealous of this girl, she is absolutley stunning! And her stats are just perfect. Ah well! This Ukrainian beauty's career quick started in 2008 and since then she's booked all of the editorials and adverts you could have dreamed of.

Summer's Saviours

There are many things that make me happy through Summer, like Summer itself for example. But the little extra things like these always make every day even better, sad really isn't it?

My most needed accessory:

Barry M Kohl Eyeliner in Gold (Shade Number 10)

I love Barry M's Kohl eyeliners, the nibs are soft, thus easily blend-able and smudge-able. They are the perfect size make-up bags. My chosen shade is Gold (Number 10). I wear it on the inner and outer corners of my eyes. This helps you look awake even when your extremely sleepy. If I was on a desert island and was only allowed to take along two items of make up, I'd chose Barry M's Gold Eyeliner and this...

Top 5 Books

Here is what I think are the top 5 books for any one, young or old, who wants to get into the fast paced fashion industry. Each of these books make great gifts for family or even yourself; I was extremely happy when my order of #1, #2 and #3 came through the door!

Derek Blasburg - Classy

This book is such a laugh! Although this book isnt really a how-to book on how to become a designer, fashion event manager, PR, photographer or anything like that, it still holds value to any girl/woman. Derek is, in a way, a socialite. He isnt really the celebrity he is more the celebrity's companion. With this status as well as his position as a journalist he has the best view on how you should act as dress in order to become a national treasure. "Classy" teaches you everything from party planning to what to dress when travelling via the Airport, as well as everything in between.

This book alongside being a vital handbook for every woman has a high level of comedy which contributes to the overall enjoyment. A great read!

Renewable Fashion

Ryan Novelline created this fairytale dress using, fittingly enough, from childrens books. The 22,000 square-inch skirt uses illustrations taken from classic fairytale stories and was stitched together with gold metallic thread. I cant even begin to imagine how hard this was to construct!

The bodice was shaped using the gold and silver spines from hardbacks. Not an exactly practical dress but it shows that you can always make something out of nothing.

La Moda Shop

Coming Soon...

I know! How exciting!! I am beginning to delve into my creative possibilities seeing as I will have more free time the closer to the end of school term we get. I have decided to spend it on a creative project making earrings. Once I have mastered my technique I have decided I will sell them here or on Etsy. If I don't I have no idea what I will do with 50 pairs of earrings!!

Stay tuned!

Inspiration/ Colour Block Make-up

Why are gel based products so popular? Especially in shoots, on runways and editorials gel based make-up is a big hit, but why?
