Memoirs of a Geisha/ Oriental Edit

Good Morning! Back to school tomorrow, sigh...

I'm back from France after soaking up the last rays of summer sun; school has reared its ugly head. You would have found me at the poolside with a book in my hand, The Devotion of Suspect X came to a devastating cliffhanger with me begging for a sequel, but I then moved onto a classic: Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.

As you may or may not know, I am a bit of an Orientalist. I love Chinese and Japanese art, style and history. This approaching season, Oriental is back, and hopefully to stay!

Here are some of my favourite Oriental styled pieces of the season:

Runway Inspiration:

Miu Miu F/W RTW 2011 wool and sequin coat.

Ralph Lauren silk shantung embroidered smoking jacket.

Beading and sparkles play a huge part in this trend.
Chanel Pre-F/W 2010 Collection.

Hussein Chalayan Kaikoku A/W Collection

In Store:

Embroidered silk jacket - Topshop

Topshop HQ favourite, pom-pom style slippers.

Printed Kimono with crochet hemming - Free People
Kimchi & Blue library skirt - Urban Outfitters

MM6 Wide leg trousers - Urban Outfitters
Dress - Sara Phillips (Image courtesy of RUSSH)

Hope your as excited for the return of the oriental this coming season as I am!

Have a great day!
