Inspiration/ Editorial and Exhibition

Inspiration comes in many forms. I dont get the chance to trawl around museums and galleries often so my key source of inspiration can be found in magazines. Here are some inspiring photo's from editorials and exhibitions.

80's Vibe

Yesterday I went totally 80's. Not a good thing for my parents I'm sure! It all began when a song from some advert on TV got stuck in my head; it just so happened to be a Talking Head's tune: Psycho Killer. If you know this song you will agree, catchy is an understatement. When it was released, my mother informs me, it was an anthem. Later, You Spin Me Round (Like a Record Baby) also became impossible to remove from my brain. "They just don't make music like they used to," swears my mum, I cant disagree really. Come on! Dubstep! Really?!

This got me to thinking. Did the 80's way of living (putting their blood sweat and tears into their music) apply to fashion?

If you've had the chance to read the Gaga/Fry article you really don't want to miss the corresponding images! I really love her get-up, as always!

Some people think she lacks taste - maybe they're right but that's not really the point. Gaga is an inspirational person in fashion in my eyes because she has no fear. She will wear something that contradicts "Red Carpet style", she doesn't care for other peoples ideas of what a Pop star should look like. Gaga teaches us to be ourselves and wear our style the way we want to, not how the media, our parents and friends tell us we should.

With Gaga in the World the restrictions on how we dress are limitless! I believe that's the way it should be.

Best Red-Carpet Moments: Cinema Against AIDS Gala and Cannes'

AmfAR's Cinema Against AIDS Gala and Cannes' Film Festival produced some fashion crackers for sure. Red carpets make me excited, the glitz, the glamour and the blinding pop bulbs. Sigh. One day, one day real soon I hope to be wearing a stunning dress that will be received with such a fashion reaction as these beauties did.

Just a quickie. Something that I've been seeing frequently and absolutely love

"Yohji fever has well and truly swept over London with the launch of not one, but three exhibitions in homage to the great avant-garde Japanese designer launching in the city this week. The Wapping Project show focuses on a giant-scale installation of his legendary oversized white silk wedding dress; the Wapping Project Bankside exhibition features image-led works by a roll call of celebrated photographers and is dedicated to Yamamoto’s love of designing for unconventional androgynous women; and the V&A retrospective concentrates on the designer’s clothes. All shows feature contributions from key people Yamamoto has forged strong creative partnerships with, including Nick Knight and Peter Saville, who worked together on this image for the V&A show."

Holla to the peeps from T&T!

A recent up kick of views from Trinbago (Trinidad and Tobago) makes me smile. I'm half Trinidadian so its nice to get viewers from across the pond, I have an inkling that you're relatives! Thanks for the support, all of you, from everywhere, I really love you!

I just would like to give a heads up to my dad's new photography blog (he's the Trini by the way) I helped kick start last week. He will share his travels, experiences, tips and tricks of photography that he's picked up along the way with his readers as he develops his skills.

He's been in the industry for donkeys years so he really knows his stuff, if your interested in a shoot and are looking for a trustable photographer feel free to check out his details at this page.

His blog still needs fine tuning so bear that in mind when you surf.

Much love to you all!

All I can do is be me, whoever that is.

- Bob Dylan

Happy Birthday Bob!! The musician whose proud of his 11 Grammy's and one Academy and Golden Globe awards. Famed for his tune "The Times They Are a-Changing", the bare grisly truth about the events and consequences of the 60's, the man continued to create heart warming hits and his consistent sense of style.

Summer Lookbook: Whistles

Whistles is one of my favourite brands. Their chunky knits and slim fit trousers are to die for. And seemingly, so are their summer dresses and swimwear. Check it out!

I definitely am digging the 70's style bikinis that are popping up this season! You?
